Final Major Project

My final project is a music video and it titled "Travelogue".

Firstly I was inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen's video for "Run Away With Me". This is a simple video that showcases Carly's travels on her tour in a music video manner.

The two places I filmed in were Manchester and Disneyland Paris.

I used Manchester as a sort of experiment, I wanted to go and film my travels and see which footage would work best with animation.

I analysed a method called "Rotoscoping" this involves drawing the frames that i'd filmed previously.

For the on-screen lyrics, I was inspired by the opening scene of "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" which features lyrics and dialogue on screen in a comic book style.

Imagination Animation Pathway Project

The second pathway project was entitled "Gameplay" and the task was to create a project that was based on some sort of game. I decided to work with the games you would play when you were much younger with your imagination, and created two animations that symbolised my imagination running wild.

I was inspired by Don Hertzfeldt's "It's such a beautiful day" and the Disney dreams show at Disney parks.

"It's Such a Beautiful Day" uses a minimalistic approach to animated techniques and is something I wanted to utilise.

The Disney Dreams show is unique as it features animation projected onto the iconic disney castle, something I wanted to try in a more simple manner.

Musical Instinct Exploratory Project

The second exploratory project I did involved creating art to music, although this project does not utilise any animation, the way i've worked with sounds and lyrics is seen in future products.

First of all I listened to the music and based on my instinct in a split second, i wrote down the lyric on where I felt it should be on the page, I listen to it a second time and would make symbols and lines based on the instrumental sounds in the same piece.
